Episode I – A New Hope

From EGLUG installfest 2010

So Welcome, This is a new platform!

This is Faisal, Ahmed Faisal, a Developer, blogger and Open-source activist.. formerly a political activist too.

It all begins with computer in 1998, I was in college then, this is a little old to start with computing but a PC back then was something really expensive for a middle-class Egyptian family. I was a tinkerer since the first day to the extent I sent my first hard drive to the garbage as a dead piece of metal 2 weeks after I bought the PC!

It turned better with the experience. I got involved in Linux near 2001, I joined the Egyptian Linux User Group – EGLUG in 2005, since then I turned officially into a Linux guru. I develop websites in PHP since a long bit of time and I’m looking forward to learn more languages.

I had my share as a journalist, but it’s really tough to work in such profession where I came from and maintain your honor and affordable living at the same time. but I never gave up writing. I write stories and technical reviews for software and gadgets and -of course- Linux and programming.

The photo above was from an “installfest” held by EGLUG in 2010, I was giving sessions about how to convert from windows to Linux. helping beginners is a turn-on for me 🙂

Later..
